Contadores: Como convertirse en CPA

Muchos contadores que aplican a la residencia Australiana, saben que se debe aprobar 9 de las 12 materias para obtener la residencia. Esto muchas veces les lleva a pensar que si aprueban las 3 materias restantes se convierten en CPA. En realidad el proceso es mucho mas complicado.

CPA es una credencial que refleja un nivel de competencia muchismimo mayor al de una licenciatura, y que esta reconocido en la ley Australiana como una de las dos credenciales que permiten ejercer la contaduria en sus niveles mas altos. Como consecuencia, ser CPA es un requisito adicional para muchas posiciones en el mercado laboral Australiano.

Para obtener la credencial de CPA, se debe aprobar todos los requisitos para obtener el reconocimiento del titulo (las 12 materias), luego hacerse miembro de CPA Australia, e iniciar un programa especial, que incluye 2 años de estudios a nivel de postgrado y 3 años de experiencia laboral supervisada, trabajando para una organizacion aprobada.

A continuacion los pasos basicos del proceso extraidos de la Pagina de CPA:

  • "You must hold a degree level qualification. This can be either an Australian degree or a degree assessed as being equivalent to an Australian degree.

  • You need to have completed the business and accounting subjects at university that have been specified by CPA Australia. These may be in an undergraduate program, a graduate conversion course, or completed as individual university subjects once you've graduated from a degree.

  • You must join CPA Australia as an Associate member to be eligible to enrol in the CPA Program.

  • Allow Associate members must complete a MOW before advancing to CPA status.

  • You must have completed the CPA Program, a postgraduate course designed to bridge the gap between the theory of your university studies and the practicalities of the workplace.

  • You should have three years of relevant mentored work experience. Mentored work experience means you can take advantage of the extensive experience of CPAs as you establish yourself in your chosen career.

  • You must give an ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards of ethical conduct and technical expertise and, lapses in ethical behaviour will be investigated by your professional peers. You will need to report regularly on the training you undertake to maintain the technical expertise required in your workplace."
