In November 2004, there were 211,315 overseas students enrolled in Australian schools, colleges and Universities. 23,121 students were in ELICOS courses, with the largest enrolment of 4,959 from China. Many of these students remain in Australia when they graduate and become part of our skilled workforce. They apply for an Onshore Skilled Migration Visa for permanent residence.
